About Us
In Fahrenheit 451, books are burned to control what people think. Published in 1953 as a warning, it imagined a future where stories were silenced. Now, in 2026, that very book is among many being challenged.
Embargoed Editions was born in response to this moment.
Co-founded by Jenna Llorens-Blas and Nerlande Adolphe, Embargoed Editions is a mission-driven, community-rooted pop-up bookstore centering banned books and diverse narratives. As former students of the Palm Beach County school system, we’ve witnessed firsthand how powerful stories can shape critical thinking, empathy, and identity. Today, many of these same books are becoming harder for students to access.
We believe books are more than paper and ink. They are mirrors of our society, archives of our histories, and roadmaps for collective change.
As a pop-up, we meet readers where they are: festivals, neighborhoods, and community spaces across Palm Beach County. We curate banned books and stories by diverse authors to help readers reconnect with reading, discover new voices, and continue learning beyond the classroom.
Our mission is simple and urgent:
To uplift voices.
To promote lifelong learning.
To push back against censorship.
To remind our community that...
Our Stories Cannot Be Censored.
